Residency Jan 2022 #lovedancescotland
In January 2022 Ellen and Grace teamed up with Hannah Uttley to embark on a new dance, theatre and aerial project ‘RE:ignite’ funded by #LoveDanceScotland.
Leading up to the project we collected stories and experiences from survivors of domestic abuse and gender-based violence, during our week residency at Dance Base in Edinburgh we conducted aerial dance workshops with survivors and we creatively explored the themes and words presented by the survivors to generate dance movement in the air and on the ground. The film 'I am here' shows some of the movement and words that we created. You can read more about the residency in the blog written by Grace about the creative process of this project.
We hope to create a community project next with a re-branding to the Forth Aerial Collective. We will offer workshops in aerial, dance, theatre and creativity for survivors of domestic abuse and gender-based violence. Providing a platform for participants to tell their stories, find empowerment and develop a sense of community.
This project is supported by the #LoveDanceScotland Recovery Bursaries, presented in partnership by Citymoves Dance Agency , Dance Base, Dundee Rep Theatre and Tramway. Supported by the Scottish Government’s Performing Arts Venue Relief Fund.
