SKILLS
Creativity: I’ve created multiple shows that have fused my dance work with different art mediums, bespoke workshops that reach a range of ages and abilities which incorporate themes using the school curriculum and projects that overcome challenges to help disabled people enjoy dance.
Management: My career has required organisational skills which include writing evaluations, working within budgets, administration, managing logistics during touring, writing funding bids, marketing and collaboration with a range of people and artists.
Planning: I have over 10 years of experience in dance session planning - spending adequate time on preparation for every project. In all my work I conduct thorough planning checklists to ensure that each project is fully prepared and risk assessed before commencing the work.
Supervisory: From working with a range of vulnerable people I have great observational skills. I have an up-to-date DBS and had safeguarding training. I know how to limit the risks in difference environmental settings to make sure everyone is safe- and how to use different tasks to help bring focus in a way that is fun and stress-free for participants.
Communication: I have many years of experience working with different people with a wide variety of abilities and comprehension, whether in-person, over zoom, telephone or email. This includes client, management from organisations, co-workers with team teaching projects, dancers, volunteers, participants and collaborators. From working with Lisa Simpson - I have a heightened understanding of non-verbal communication and introduce British Sign Language into my workshops where appropriate.
Patience: Having patience is crucial for my work with younger people and people with physical and cognitive impairments. I am empathetic towards people with varying abilities and understand that it takes longer for some participants to process certain information such as communication, so I always give people time to complete tasks, be creative and explore ideas to develop their full potential.
